How to make a living room office nook: Step one: Acquire desk. Step two: Put desk in your living room, in a nookish area. Step three: Put a computer/calculator/notebook on it. Ta-da! LIVING ROOM OFFICE! Kinda? This side of the room needs so much work. *softly bangs forehead on aforementioned desk* Just…just…just…ugh. Just ignore those shelves. They’re so bad. And that dog bed. I keep telling myself I’ll chuck it out, but there it is. Let’s focus on the positive. LIVING ROOM OFFICE!

Lucy approves. That chair is a temporary fix. It’s one of our dining room chairs, and it hurts my tailbone to sit on it for more than an hour five minutes. I’ve been looking for a replacement, but EVERY DINING CHAIR ONLINE IS SOLD IN PAIRS. I just want an upholstered parsons chair, guys. Don’t make me get in my car and go to a stooooreee. >:-(

Brief history of this desk: I found it at a small secondhand shop for $90. A bit on the high side, but for solid wood, carved legs and no need for rehab? I’m not complaining. It used to hang out in our spare room until we brought home the thrifted dresser. (And yes, now my sewing machine is sitting on the floor. Scribbles on infinite project list, build a craft desk)

Back in this post, I wondered what we could do with the empty space between the chairs and windows.

There. That’s what we did with that space.

Side note: Look at the photo above. On the bottom shelf, to the far left. It’s a small plant! Now look at the photo below. Same place. It’s the same plant, kinda deader with fewer leaves! Good job, me.

So that’s what we did this weekend. Hahah. Oh, and we worked on the deck for like five minutes. It. was. hot. outside. I promise there will be a post on progress as soon as actual progress takes place.

How are you enjoying the last bits of summer before back-to-school time? Any furniture rearranging going on?

One Response to Extra Piece Of Furniture + Empty Space = Not Empty Space

  1. I totally understand the difficulties of decorating around dog beds!
Your dog Lucy looks so similar to my old dog (except he had a white chest),
some her poses and thoughts (like the geese!) totally remind me of him.
